Frequently Asked Questions

Welded vs Knock-Down: Which is better?
Welded frames offer maximum strength and a clean appearance, ideal for new construction. Knock-down (KD) frames are perfect for retrofit and renovation where walls are already built, and offer easier shipping.
What gauge frame should I specify?
16 gauge is standard for most commercial buildings and fire-rated openings. 18 gauge is fine for light interior use. 14 gauge is recommended for schools and high-traffic areas.
Do I need galvanized frames for exterior?
Yes, hot-dip galvanized frames with powder coat are strongly recommended for exterior applications to provide maximum corrosion resistance and durability.
What wall thicknesses are supported?
Standard depths include 4-3/4", 5-3/4", 6-3/4", 7-3/4", and 8-3/4". Custom depths are available for non-standard wall constructions.
What is the lead time?
Standard frames ship in 2-3 weeks. Custom sizes require 4-6 weeks. Galvanized frames may add 1-2 weeks.
