Frequently Asked Questions

Hot-dip vs Pre-galvanized: What's the difference?
Hot-dip galvanizing involves immersing the completed door in molten zinc, providing complete coverage including edges/welds. Pre-galvanized (G90) is sheet galvanized before fabrication, leaving cut edges unprotected. Hot-dip is superior for exterior/industrial use.
How long will galvanized doors last?
Hot-dip galvanized doors typically last 25-30 years in exterior applications. With powder coat finish, life can extend to 30+ years. Regular maintenance helps achieve maximum life.
Can galvanized doors be painted?
Yes. For factory finishing, galvanneal steel offers best adhesion. Hot-dip galvanized requires surface prep. We recommend factory powder coating for best results.
Are they suitable for food processing?
Yes. For direct food contact or FDA compliance, we recommend galvanneal steel with FDA-compliant powder coat finishes and stainless steel hardware.
What is the lead time?
Standard galvanized doors ship in 4-5 weeks due to the galvanizing process. Pre-galvanized (G90) can ship in 3-4 weeks. Custom sizes require 6-8 weeks.
