Answers to common questions about our metal door products and services.
Hollow metal doors consist of steel face sheets welded around a core material (honeycomb, polystyrene, or steel stiffened). They're the industry standard for commercial applications, offering excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Solid steel doors are typically thicker gauge material without a core, used primarily for high-security vault or blast applications.
We manufacture fire-rated doors in 20-minute, 45-minute, 60-minute, 90-minute, and 3-hour ratings. All fire-rated doors are tested to UL 10C/UBC 7-2 and carry appropriate UL/WHI labels. Fire-rated glass options are available for vision panels, and frames are matched with appropriate fire ratings.
Standard products have an MOQ of 20 units per size/configuration. For custom sizes, special finishes, or non-standard configurations, MOQ is typically 50-100 units. We work with distributors on container quantity programs for the best pricing. Contact us for project-specific quotes.
304 stainless steel is ideal for most indoor applications including food processing, hospitals, and clean rooms. 316 grade contains molybdenum for enhanced corrosion resistance and is recommended for coastal environments, chemical processing, pharmaceutical facilities, and outdoor applications with salt exposure. 316L is a low-carbon variant for welded applications.
Standard products typically ship within 4-6 weeks after order confirmation. Custom configurations require 6-8 weeks. Fire-rated and specialty products may require 8-10 weeks. Lead times include production and do not include shipping transit time. Expedited production is available for an additional fee. Contact us for current lead times on specific products.
